Coombe Castle
The ancient town of Castle Combe, from which Coombe Castle derived its name, is often described as “The Prettiest Village in England.” Although the castle no longer stands guard on the hill overlooking the town, this historic, centuries-old market village is as picturesque today as ever it was.
Coombe Castle exports the largest range of Cheddars from all corners of the UK.
| The Famous Cheddaring Process: The unique, multi-step cheddaring process gives Cheddar its distinctive trademark texture and flavor.Curd blocks are stacked, then re-stacked (the bottom blocks move to the top). The pressure expels excess whey. Curds are then milled into small pieces, salted, set in molds and pressed to further drain and mature. The result is the most recognized cheese in the world. |
